Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is my great pleasure to announce that Phil Huneke has won the College of the Arts and Sciences 2002-2003 Rosalene Sedgwick Faculty Service Award.

Many of you will know first hand of Phil's devotion to students and to Ohio State. At the Honors Reception yesterday Mike Hogan, Executive Dean of the Arts and Sciences, recognized it noting, "Phil's work for the university was not and is not flashy. It is done mostly in the trenches, working closely with individual people where the measure of success is a student well advised, a TA well prepared, a youngster turned on to the possibility of a college education, a dispute resolved, or a life turned around. It is ironic, but very important to note, that when this crucial work is done well, it largely goes unnoticed, except by the affected individual."

So, congratulations Phil! This award, and the recognition it brings, is both just and deserving.
