CINDY BERNLOHR

Cindy's role in fulfilling the instructional mission of the Mathematics department is invaluable. Among other things, she oversees the recruiting and training of undergraduate student instructional aides and graduate students from other departments. She brings out the best in all our teaching assistants, including undergraduate Student Instructional Aids (SIAs), part time lecturers, GTAs from other departments as well as our own graduate students. Through her compassion and attention to detail, she ensures that our undergraduates obtain the best possible instruction and these constant efforts are broadly recognized beyond the department.

KIM CONNER

Kim Conner works as the assistant to two vice chairs, arranging meetings, keeping track of schedules, etc. She supervises the student workers at the Department's front desk, updates the photos displayed on the walls, and sets up the bulletin board displays in the Math Building. Kim also plays a major role in keeping the Ross Program organized by working on hundreds of details like designing the brochure, arranging for a dozen airport pickups, and organizing dorm room lists. She works closely with Mark Garner and Judie Monson in searching the University's databases to verify prerequisites of students in math classes. She is the back-up person for office keys and the chairman's office in Ronda Bucy's absence, and helps set up the lounge for various special events. In summary, Kim's positive attitude and cheerful demeanor, and her steady work on many projects, help the Department run more smoothly.

TOM HOLBROOK

As a member of the computer support group, Tom must cope with the constant learning of new computer software and hardware so he can assist the faculty and staff in their transition to new systems. He is also responsible for knowing many software applications inside and out so he can assist people with their computer problems - in this, he supports all staff and many faculty, as well as graduate students. Tom helps out the rest of the computer staff whenever necessary, staying late or coming in early without being asked. Due in part to his excellent work ethic, our computer support for staff (his primary responsibility) is excellent.

JUDIE MONSON

Judie Monson's primary goal at work is to help students. As leader of the Mathematics Counseling Office she works with many types of students, from new freshmen to graduate students. Judie knows much of the long history of the Department's teaching effort and is an excellent resource for faculty who hope to alter existing courses or create new programs. She has also helped guide the Department's interactions with the offices of the Registrar, Admission, Orientation, First Year Experience, Athletics,Honors, etc. For may years, Judie's good judgment has been a tremendous benefit to the Department.

MARILYN RADCLIFF

Over the past several years Marilyn has been consistently of great help to faculty who organize various conferences (sponsored by MRI and NSF and NSA). She is also charged with assistance in the grant preparation process and she provides essential help to many faculty in that area. Whenever needed, she puts in long hours to keep up with tight deadlines. Marilyn's work also has an impact on countless visitors to the department, from seminar and colloquium speakers to conference participants and various other visitors supported by MRI and grants. Her timeliness in this regard is greatly appreciated and recognized.
