Diana Bevilacqua

Diana Bevilacqua joined the Mathematics Counseling Office in 2001. She works with the varied populations of students that frequent the office such as freshmen, transfer students, majors and graduate students. One of her primary responsibilities is the maintenance of the mathematics and actuarial science majors database which is updated on a quarterly basis. In addition, she and Judie Monson serve as Coordinating Major Advisors. Diana also interfaces with advisors in SASSO (Student Athlete Support Services Office) regarding student athlete issues as they relate to enrollment in mathematics courses. In sum, she is a valuable member of the Department's advising staff and a real benefit to the Department.

Ann Logan

Ann Logan has been a valuable member of the Department staff since 1997, currently serving in the capacity of Course Office Coordinator. Among her various responsibilities are textbook ordering, coordination of grade submission and maintenance, and course adds/sections changes. In addition, she assists Mark Garner with course schedule maintenance. The work Ann does is very meticulous, and she helps the Department run smoothly. Her efforts on behalf of students and faculty/TA's are greatly appreciated.

Jeff McCune

In the past 18 months, Jeff McCune has proven over and over again how valuable he is to our Department. Besides fielding daily questions from faculty and staff, he also works to research, install and maintain the extensive software used by the Department. He works with members of the computing staff to maintain the various servers needed to run our computer network. He also thinks in a broader scope: recently, he was able to not only identify a serious security risk in the new campus wide wireless computing arena, but also to formulate a plan to correct it along with one of our MBI staff members that will be implemented during the next year. Jeff has proven not only to be an asset to our Department, but also to the entire University.

Cindy Bernlohr

Cindy's work is central to the instructional mission of the Mathematics Department. In order to arrange instruction, she must understand the strengths and preferences of our G.T.A.'s. She helps oversee the recruiting and training of undergraduate student instructional aides and graduate student teachers from other departments. Many of our teachers are international students who must be certified to teach in English and Cindy works closely with the staff in the English as a Second Language group. She assists the Graduate Studies Committee in the annual evaluation and renewal of Graduate Teaching Associates. Her constant attention to detail and to the needs of our T.A.-level staff insures a high level of compassion and efficiency in our instruction and service to students. Cindy's concern both for our instructional staff and for the students they teach enhances the quality of work life for our teachers and ensures that our undergraduate students obtain the best possible instruction. The high quality of her work was recognized this year by a university-wide Distinguished Staff Award and now by a departmental Outstanding Staff Award.

Gretchen Sabin

Gretchen Sabin works as the assistant to two vice chairs, arranging meetings, keeping track of schedules etc. She supervises the student workers at the front desk, updates the photos of the faculty, staff and graduate students, and sets up the bulletin board displays in the Math Building. Gretchen plays a major role in keeping the Ross program organized and running smoothly. She also works closely with Mark Garner and Judie Monson, helping with searches in the student database. Gretchen has done excellent work this year, taking on added duties whenever needed. Her positive attitude (and sense of humor) is a great addition to the office environment.
