Abstract
We follow an outline by Milne to obtain an extension of an identity of Watson for one of the third order mock theta functions. We then obtain a definition of a third order mock theta function for multivariable symplectic hypergeometric series from our extension. We connect this third order symplectic mock theta function to Schur symmetric functions, Littlewood-Richardson coefficients, and Hall-Littlewood vertex operators. We explore some specializations of our symplectic mock theta function to provide a basis of comparison to the classical mock theta functions of Ramanujan.
