Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I'm very pleased to announce that Zita Divis [0] has been selected to receive a 2003 Faculty Award for Distinguished University Service.

As many of you will know, Zita has been active in university affairs for more than a decade and has served with distinction in the highest counsels of this institution. The breadth of her service is enormous, encompassing a spectrum of issues from curriculum to finance to faculty governance. Zita is a champion of mathematics, engineering and the sciences, but her advocacy is never partisan for she considers first what is best for Ohio State faculty, students and staff, then concludes what will be best for the long term health and well-being of the institution. Her opinion is held in the highest regard.

In past years recipients of this and other university awards have been honored at half time in a home football game and I hope this tradtion continues for it will provide us with an extra special treat. In her thirty years at Ohio State, Zita has never set foot in Ohio Stadium and she still can't distinguish between third-and-long and a goal-line stand. So the sight of her grinning and waving to the crowd at midfield is a sight that simply cannot be missed!

Congratulations Zita; this award is well deserved!

Peter
