Compactly supported cohomology of buildings

In 1976 Borel and Serre calculated the compactly supported cohomology of affine buildings. I will explain an analogous formula for general buildings (where we are interested in nonclassical buildings which are neither affine nor spherical).
This is joint work with Jan Dymara, Tadeusz Januszkiewicz, John Meier and Boris Okun.
