Majors/Tracks and Minor in Semesters

Due to the over 900 majors we have in this department plus all the students we help across the University, we are trying to streamline our advising efforts.  We would prefer that you come to an information session to find out about our majors.

Math and Actuarial Science Majors - overview and information PowerPoint slide show for those who miss the information sessions.  If you are having trouble viewing the PowerPoint, try this handout of the information presented at each session with space available for you to take notes.

Overview info sessions will begin again in Autumn semester.

Important Note:  - If you are interested in going to Graduate School in any mathematical area, the Theoretical or Honors Track is highly recommended, as those well-rounded tracks are the best preparation.

1) Actuarial Science - Students entering this major Summer semester 2012 and beyond will be admitted to the pre-Actuarial major.  If not accepted into the Actuarial major, then follow the Financial Math track.

Note:  You may do a double major with Actuarial Science and Math, but you must choose only one Math track.

Caution:  If you plan to do a double major Actuarial with the Financial Math Track, there are additional courses that need to be taken and you must be admitted to the Actuarial Major.  See those requirements under the Fin Math Track.
