Math 132 News

Tuesday, June 8 (THE BIG DAY) : FYI I'm heading over to Smith 1153 now (6 p.m.). Don't freak out your test doesn't start until 7:30 p.m. but I'll be around to answer questions until then.

Sunday, June 6: Hi again. Forgot to post this before, it's a quote regarding your final from the "powers that be."

"Final exam contains 2 questions one on section 19.7 and another on 19.8. The question on 19.7 asks them to find the critical points of a function of 2 variables and also find out if those points are points of rel max etc. etc. We do provide the second derivative test with the question on the exam sheet."

I copied and pasted it right from the e-mail so there you go. I should mention before you ask that there are OTHER questions too, this is just information on a specific two of them.

Sunday, June 6: Hope you're studying hard! Two of the other TA's are having review sessions and they said you can come if you like.

Anton Mates' Review Session: Today (Sunday, June 6) at 5:00 p.m. in JR 371.

Brian Morton's Review Session: Tomorrow (Monday, June 7) at 5:30 p.m. in CH 004.

Lastly, remember that the tutor room is open normal hours Monday and Tuesday and I'll be there Monday from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (CH 141).

Thursday, June 3: Had a quiz, covered 19.8. The quiz and homework solutions for 19.8 are below. This was our last recitation. Thanks for a GREAT quarter!

Tuesday, April 20: TEST DAY Collected 16.7, but you can turn it in with 16.8 Thursday if you want. We went over 16.8 as well as a general review for tonights test. I just finished tallying your test grades, so if you want the grade, email me and I'll send it to you. I'm not really supposed to send grades to non-OSU email addresses, so if at all possible use your @osu.edu address. Average/Median info will come tomorrow.

Thursday, April 15: TAX DAY Collected 16.5, 16.6 and returned 16.2-16.4. Also gave Quiz 2, which you can pick up at my office hours today or Monday or at the Review Session Monday, April 19 from 7-8 p.m. in CH 312. Will post solutions to homework in a bit. Oh and FYI I think I'm going to have a pop quiz some week, just to keep you on your toes, but it won't be an exam week, I promise. (Also, then you'll have 7 total quizzes, so 2 will be dropped.) The message board is having problems, but I think it's just maintenance and will be back before long.

Midterm I is on 4/20/04 from 5:30-6:20 p.m. in SH 100.

Tuesday, April 13: Collected 16.4 and returned Quiz 1 and 16.1 to you. Here are some solutions/hints for 16.2, 16.3, and 16.4. Solutions for the first Quiz can be found here. We discussed 16.5 and 16.6 (both due Thursday). There will be a quiz Thursday (don't forget!) on 16.4-16.6. Lastly, info on the midterm is below (in April 8th's post). We will have a review session for the midterm next Monday at 7 p.m., but I don't yet know the room or building it will be in.

Thursday, April 8: Collected 16.2 and 16.3, gave Quiz 1 (Avg: 77%). Discussed 16.4 which will be due Tuesday. There will be a quiz on sections 16.4-16.6 this Thursday. Also 16.5 and 16.6 will be collected Thursday. I know these sections are kinda difficult, but do your best and really try to understand why we're doing this stuff. Lastly, I'm a bit behind on posting homework, but I'll get caught up Tuesday. Midterm I Announced: 4/20/04 from 5:30-6:20 p.m. in SH 100.

Tuesday, April 6: Gave back 15.2 and collected 16.1. The solution is here. We discussed 16.2 and 16.3. Again, these sections are really important, so make sure you understand them. I'll be setting up a forum today, which I'll link from the page. Due this Thursday are sections 16.2 and 16.3 AND you have a quiz on everything up to 16.3. Midterm I is two weeks away. There is now a link to our forum on my homepage as well as here.

Thursday, April 1: I collected 15.2. You can find the solution here. We discussed 16.1, and did quite a few problems, as it's an IMPORTANT section. I'll collect 16.1 Tuesday. Lastly, there will be a quiz on 15.2, 16.1-16.3 on Thursday. From now on quizzes will be every Thursday unless you have a test that week. Have a good weekend!

Tuesday, March 30: First day of class! We talked about section 15.2 and did some problems from it. So 15.2 will be due on Thursday. Some of you asked if 16.1 would be due, but it will be due next Tuesday. Also I believe I will be grading homework on a check, check plus, check minus kind of system and we'll talk about it next time.
