Monthly on Second Sundays, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
St. James Episcopal Church on Calumet Ave, about one block north of East North Broadway and about two to three blocks east of North High St. Park behind the church and enter by the door nearest the parking lot.
Beginning singers are always welcome to sing with us and musical sight reading ability is not a prerequisite.
To confirm a singing on a particular date, contact me by email at econrad@math.ohio-state.edu a few days before the scheduled singing. I try to post an advance notice of each schedule change on this web page.
We use the Original Sacred Harp (Denson Book, 1991 edition). We have a small supply of loaner books available for use by guests, visitors, and forgetful regular singers. These loaner books are available for purchase at cost (currently about $14.00 per book).
The Columbus Sacred Harp Singers will host the 2012 Ohio Sacred Harp Singing Convention on March 3 and 4, 2012. More information is available on the Ohio Sacred Harp Convention 2012 homepage.
Special singing for the Smithsonian New Harmonies travelling exhibit. See the "One Time Schedule Change" above. [http://rurallife.kenyon.edu/about_news_new_harmonies.html] (The Columbus Singers will sing in Mount Vernon on the 13th of November.)
For other singings and for general information about shape note singing, consult the Ohio Shape Note Singing homepage or the Sacred Harp Musical Heritage Association web pages at http://www.fasola.org/.
Although we are a singing group and not a performing group, we do occasionally perform in order to inform the general public about the history, traditions, and practice of shape note singing.
