Knoppix
is the original Linux LiveCD (bootable CD with boatloads of
useful tools; you can even run a server off it in a crunch).
Also useful for solving Windows problems.
Hiren's boot CD (version 7.7, January, 2006) is a Windows
recovery CD with lots of useful tools. Unfortunately, I can't
handle the bandwidth, so the link points you to a torrent (what's a
torrent?).
