Dear all,
We left a week of 153 behind us and I am guessing most of you are under the impression that 153 is not easy. The fact is that 153 is a little different than the previous two calculus course you took. we will learn new subjects in this course while using our knowledge of the previous quarters. There will be moments that you are taking derivatives, integrals and then you will be asked to take limits. This will happen while you actually try to learn the new stuffffff...
Before I continue with my weekly nonsense, please, check the Quiz link for Quiz 1 solutions. I know that this quiz was rather hard for you. Indeed, my purpose was to remind you that this course require something special from you even if it is summer, something that is asked by all teachers, bosses, family, wifes, husbands: Something called HARD-WORK. Please, do not despair for a set of reasons:
1. I ain’t no punisher! I am on your side and if you do your share in this course, you can believe that I will do my share.
2. Without the hope of success, fear of failure will drive you into despair and without the fear of failure, one lacks motivation. Hence, you need both and I assure you that you can and should have more hope than fear. Yet, you should never forget the possibility of failure. It will help you motivate better.
3. Don’t worry! I am not one of those teachers who ask tough questions for pleasure and demolish his students. Even if I ask tough questions at times, they will be very educational and I will base my grading scheme to the class average and you will again be fine. As I said I am on your side.
4. You will be fine!!! I assure you! Just be happy and study and don’t forget the true meaning of CARPE DIEM!!!
I will see you in class...
